PCC Secretary. Church is looking for a volunteer to become the Parochial Church Council secretary. We have our warden and our Treasurer but the secretary role is currently vacant. If anyone is interested in becoming Honorary Secretary to the PCC or wishes to offer to volunteer for part of the role if it appears too much for one person, please contact the Rector through the church office 01395 263681.
The Produce Stall continues every Saturday from 09.30 until sold out, usually quite quickly, until the end of August. Please donate home grown or made items and come along to buy. Let’s Hit the Beach. On Saturday 18th August all the Exmouth Churches (which includes Lympstone) are organising the creation of a Labyrinth from noon to high tide. Bring a picnic and join in. To be held near the Lifeboat Station.
Wild About Lympstone publication: Free to collect from Church! This book is a compilation of local contributions around Wildlife theme put together by Wild About Lympstone arising from the Wildlife Festival held in church in June last year. Copies are available free of charge in the church.
‘Ride and Stride’ Saturday 8th September The annual ‘Ride & Stride’ event provides the opportunity for walkers and cyclists to visit local churches – and to raise money for the preservation of church buildings throughout Devon. Many churches have refreshments available to welcome the travellers! Routes can be as short or as long as you like. This is an enjoyable day out for families of all ages – combined with as much, or as little, exercise as you choose! This year’s event will be on Saturday 8th September so put it in your diary.
Thank you to Demelza Henderson The people of Lympstone Parish Church were delighted, on 14th July, to be able to present Demelza Henderson, our Reader, with a gift to mark her many years of unstinting service to us all. We commissioned the incising and decorating of a walnut bowl (made from a tree in the allotment here) turned by John Welton. The artist was Claire Belcher. The pictures show aspects of the village including Demelza’s sign for “Home-made jams” for which she is well known. We are glad to say that Demelza is not leaving us, but owing to many commitments, has had to lay down a number of her tasks in the church. Thank you Demelza for all you have done!
