History Society AGM & TALK: Angela Coles ‘Dashing Away with a Smoothing Iron’

May 25 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm

Lympstone History Society AGM and TALK: Thursday 25th May
Angela Coles – ‘Dashing away with a smoothing iron’ – a brief history of the humble iron – revisited.

Angela’s iron collection started by chance 30 years ago in an antique shop in Salisbury. The collection now stands at over 175 irons and iron related items including Petrol Irons, Tailor’s Irons (weighing a stone) and Chinese Pan-Irons. This illustrated talk includes photographs, adverts & humorous postcards, and is accompanied by a display of some of the more unusual irons from Angela’s collection. This is a light-hearted talk, and you can be assured that no ironing will be undertaken on the night!

The talk will commence at approx 7.30pm and will be preceded by a brief AGM at 7.15pm.

7.15pm for 7.30pm start, Methodist Hall, Chapel Road.
Entry fee £4 for non-members, £3.50 fo
r members. Lifetime membership fee only £10.
