Proposed new car parking charges!

Proposed new car parking charges!

There are new proposed car parking charges for East Devon – and that includes Underhill – which is to be classified as a Long Stay Coastal carpark.

EDDC want to standardize parking charges throughout the district.

Charges would rise from 40p an hour to £1 an hour, a 150% increase!

The charging period would be every day for 24 hours (as against free on Sundays and after 6.00 pm) with the max daily charge rising from £4 to £6.

Residents permits are to be abolished but anyone can buy a permit for  a single car park in the district for £100 and add further named car parks for £20 a time.  It is not clear whether there is to be any limit on the number of permits or priority given to residents if there is a limit. To soften the increase from £40 those with existing residents permits will be able to have a permit for £50 next year and £75 the following year.

These are significant changes and more details can be found on the EDDC website here

The proposed changes will be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting on 3rd September – Agenda here
