Marilyn Monroe lights up the screen with her cameo as a gangster’s moll in this classic crime thriller from 1950. ‘The Asphalt Jungle’ is an exceptional film noir by Hollywood director John Huston, with a scintillating plot and a compelling performance by Sam Jaffe as a criminal mastermind.
The Film Society likes to show one classic film each season, and this was recommended by former Head of BBC Radio Light Entertainment, Martin Fisher, who also suggested the Monday Matinees. With an atmospheric score and Harold Rosson’s gritty photography you have a masterpiece, which continues to influence heist movies even today.
