THE RESTORATION OF COMEDY
Cygnet Theatre in the Telfers’ Garden with SHE VENTURES & HE WINS by “Ariadne” on Sunday, 18th July at 4.30pm
Seventeen months after the last Village Concert on Leap Year Day 2020, Lympstone Entertainments returns, with a play to restore our spirits! We are so happy to begin again with an annual favourite, the visit of Cygnet Theatre to Robin and Judith’s glorious garden setting.
The young actors from Exeter’s own Drama School are presenting a Restoration Comedy, full of high spirits and low tricks, cross-dressing, confusion and deceit, as skirts are swapped for breeches, breeches for skirts, and two young women take control of their romantic lives. She Ventures & He Wins is a delightfully playful comedy, with women resolutely on top.
Written in 1696 by “an unknown young lady”, here is a play you will not have met before, but will be glad to get to know.
As ever, you are invited to bring your picnics and your chairs to the Underhill entrance of the Telfers’ garden glade, from 3.30pm on Sunday 18th July. The performance will begin at 4.30
