Youth Club Meeting

June 19, 2017 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

LYPS – (LYMPSTONE YOUNG PEOPLE’S SOCIETY) – meeting Monday 19th June at 7.30pm

Approximately one quarter of our village is under 18 – we are fortunate to have many village youth activities run by volunteers, but there is one outstanding facility which has been running weekly for 12 years, week in and week out. This is our Youth Club (LYPS). For the last 7 years we have been blessed to have Eddie Mingo and his daughter Lauren at the helm. Despite both being in full-time work, they have each provided thousands of hours of their own time to run this club and hundreds of our village children have benefited.

Having held the helm for a sterling seven-year stint of community volunteering, Eddie and Lauren wish to hand over to the reins to a new person or team.

The Parish Council is keen to ensure that the club can continue and will be meeting on Monday 19th June at 7.30pm at The Club Hut on Candys Field to discuss options for the future, both for our thriving junior club and also to examine ways in which to modernise the building meet ever changing standards and new technology. All current members (aged 6-18) will be especially welcome to come along and share their views.

The club can only continue with volunteer support, even if a paid leader is appointed The law dictates that we have to have a certain number of adults to members. (Di Beatty, Pat Squires and Cllr Pete Acca have been on the committee recently). If anyone feels they can help, please come along to the meeting or contact me. If your children have benefited from the club, or you were a member years ago, please consider giving maybe just a couple of hours a month to maintain this great facility for our village.
