Hospiscare Fundraising Events 2021

Hospiscare Fundraising Events 2021

Hospiscare is your local adult hospice charity, supporting patients and their families in East Devon, Mid Devon and Exeter. Hospiscare is funded by the generosity of the local community, currently just 18% of our funding comes from the NHS. The fundraising support of local people allows us to provide our expert end-of-life care at no cost to our patients and their families.

Below you will find information on some of their community fundraising projects.  All this fundraising contributes vital funds that have enabled us to keep caring throughout the pandemic. We can’t change a diagnosis, but we can change someone’s life after diagnosis. Every day matters to our patients and we are committed to providing the end-of-life care that they want.

 Open Gardens –

Hospiscare are looking for keen and green fingered individual gardeners, villages and allotment users in the local community to take part in Hospiscare Open Gardens 2021, can you help?

The gardens that take part in our Open Gardens range from small, terraced gardens to sprawling acres in the countryside, we also have small groups of gardens in a street who take part together! All of them with their unique characteristics that make them interesting, as well as calming, tranquil places to visit, relax, enjoying a cup of tea and cake and of course, get some ideas to take home to your own gardens. I have attached a couple of posters, if you have any gardening contacts, clubs or societies that may be interested please feel free to let them know and send them the posters. Alternatively, if you would prefer to me know about these clubs etc I can contact them directly.

We are very lucky to have new gardens joining the programme every year and would like to take this opportunity to ask anybody who might like to join the programme for 2021, to please get in touch.  We would love to hear from you for a no obligation chat on 01392 688020 or email fundraising@hospiscare.co.uk.

 Coffee Morning –

We know how popular a coffee morning can be and our supporters are fantastic in making this a part of their yearly calendar. So we would like to invite you to take part in Hospiscare’s Coffee Morning in April 2021, we have made some changes as we know that we don’t have the same options for gathering as we have in previous years, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t go ahead, it may be that a zoom coffee morning will gather your family for a catch up and coffee whilst raising money, or perhaps if some of you are in the office a table of cakes in the staffroom will be a welcome sight.

However our supporters decide to continue the Coffee Morning tradition is absolutely fine with us (this isn’t a year to be fussy!) although we do ask that you check government guidelines and adhere to all COVID rules at the time of your event. If April isn’t a good time for you then please don’t let this stop you signing up, just let us know when you register when you think you might be able to hold your Coffee Morning.

Hospiscare knows the difference a cuppa can make. The charity cares for over 2,000 patients and their families every year with thousands of cups of tea and coffee providing comfort in the hospice. Our specialist nurses are providing end of life care for our patients and we are all committed to ensuring this continues into the future. You can find more information or sign up to take part in Coffee Morning https://www.hospiscare.co.uk/support-our-work/fundraise/hospiscare-coffee-morning/

 Men’s Walk – Your Way

We’re looking for your support to promote the 10th anniversary of our Men’s Walk event, which is on Saturday 20th March. This year it’s Men’s Walk – Your Way, where participants walk a route of their choice local to them. Participants will still get a Men’s Walk t-shirt, a beer courtesy of Exeter Brewery, a pasty supplied by Chunk of Devon and a great day. And the Six Nations Ireland vs England game is on ITV1 from 4.45pm.

We may not be able to all join together as in previous years, but for the 10th anniversary it’s even more important that this event takes place, however we can. We hugely appreciate your support in helping us make the 2021 Men’s Walk the success it deserves to be, whilst raising the vitals funds needed to support terminally ill patients across East Devon, Mid Devon & Exeter. If you’d like to sign up or enter a Men’s Walk team please visit http://www.hospiscare.co.uk/menswalk for more information, thank you.

We need our community’s support now more than ever to help our charity survive and ensure that we continue providing vital, specialist care for people living with a terminal illness in the heart of Devon. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this email, my apologies that it includes such an amount of information!

If you have any questions or would like more information, or maybe you have a fundraising idea of your own and would like some support, please do get in touch with me 07793 621090 or l.hancock@hospiscare.co.uk
